Dr. Bei Liu studied under renowned physician Professor
Professor Zhiqiang Guo
Chief Physician and Professor at Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and a mentor to master's degree students. He formerly served as the head of the gynecology department and director of the medical department. He was a mentor in the third group of the National Inheritance Project for Senior Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Experts. In 2009, the “Guo Zhiqiang Famous Doctor Inheritance Studio 3+3” was established in Beijing, and in 2011, the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine awarded him the “National Famous Senior TCM Expert Guo Zhiqiang Inheritance Studio.” He was also a recipient of the State Council’s special government allowance. Building upon the ancient theory of "Yin is often deficient, while Yang is often in excess," Professor Guo proposed the modern theory that "for women, Yin is often deficient, but Yang is also frequently weak." He believed that "nourishing the liver is more effective than soothing it" in treating women’s health issues. He developed the "Sequential Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine" in which four of his own herbal formulations are applied sequentially to women’s four distinct physiological cycles. For chronic pelvic inflammation, he advocated for treatment focused on warming the meridians, promoting blood circulation, and unblocking the collaterals, and pioneered a herbal retention enema therapy. Over 50 years of clinical experience, Professor Guo summarized his knowledge and authored books such as Essentials of Guo Zhiqiang’s Gynecology and Guo Zhiqiang’s Case Studies on Infertility, systematically explaining his academic ideas and treatment approaches for various gynecological diseases. He generously shared his self-developed formulas for the benefit of future generations. Professor Guo’s reputation as the "Guanyin of Childbearing" is well-deserved. His meticulous approach and remarkable efficacy, combined with his caring and compassionate demeanor, have earned him worldwide recognition. Patients from all over the world have traveled great distances to seek his care, and his treatment has brought hope and happiness to countless families. Professor Guo also devoted himself to mentoring the next generation. Since accepting his first cohort of master's students in 1994, he has mentored over 100 students, including master's students and apprentices, many of whom have become talented TCM practitioners, making significant contributions to the field of Chinese medicine.
Professor Weiqin Guo
Professor Guo comes from a family of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners and began studying TCM under her father, Guo Shikui, a renowned expert in cardiovascular diseases. She was the former director of Dongzhimen Hospital at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and served as the hospital’s chief professor of cardiovascular studies. She is a nationally recognized senior TCM practitioner, a Capital Master of TCM, and a mentor in the National Inheritance Project for Senior TCM Experts. Professor Guo has unique insights and extensive experience in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases such as coronary heart disease, hypertension, and heart failure. She systematically inherited her father’s academic philosophy of treating cardiovascular diseases with the methods of "promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, as well as using aromatic and warming techniques." With nearly 60 years of clinical practice and refined analytical thinking, Professor Guo believes that the fundamental pathology of cardiovascular diseases lies in "Qi deficiency." She innovatively developed herbal formulas such as Yiqi Xiefei Tang, Jiangzhi Tongmai Fang, and Fudou Heji. These formulas have been adopted as "standard prescriptions" in several large hospitals, playing a key role in improving atherosclerosis, preventing post-stent restenosis, slowing the progression of heart failure, and reversing endothelial damage caused by high cholesterol.
